Water Supply

Hello All,

Whilst requesting information on many topics is useful it can also be a bit of a pain but I am at a loss as to the Water Supply in the CDLF area 90% of which appears to be Well Water ! My argument against Well Wayet goes back to when I was based in the Sulatnate of Oman where tribesmen or farmers would drill bore holes where they wanted and as a consequence many drilled striaght through the water table into the underlying Aquafer thus causing saline intrusion and the water/aquafer becomes redundant.

Can anyone offer me hope in this area as I really need to understand if it is a catastrophy wating to happen OR no such problems exist !

I intend travelling down to CDLF area from November 1-7 to check out the area and opefully suitable Chalet properties so a Heads-up will certainly go a long way

Hi Bill,

I believe the groundwater around Chiclana is very hard and quite brackish and not really drinkable.  Not surprising as it is so close to the coast and low lying. Many of the speculative  builds which may or may not have been urbanised have wells, which might not be registered. If this is of concern to you be very  wary to check on costs, quality and quantity of any water supply. Water is a known problem in this area.

Hi.

Most of the unurbanised properties in Chiclana use well water. Undrinkable but not un-boilable if you really got stuck. 

Areas vary a lot. Some areas have salty well water. BUT most importantly - there are some areas......e.g. Pago del Humo and Marquesado.....where there is little water. So make sure you take this into account before you purchase.
