Hi
We’ve just been quoted 5k euros for a wooden pergola as follows:
470x278 pergola formed by 2 pillars of 20x20, 1 mother beam of 20x20 and 6 beams of 14x8 laminated pine and water varnished
It seems expensive so we wondered if anyone has had experience of a) building one or b) buying one from a shop such as Leroy Merlin?
Hola!
We are planning to move to the Vejer area at the end of the summer with our almost 6 year old daughter who needs to start school then.
To start we'll visit for 6 weeks at the start of March 2024 to make arrangements and look for a new home.
So our most pressing questions at the moment are:
Where to find a short term (6 weeks) rental home central and accessible 3 March - 14 April 2024
The best police station to apply for NIE numbers for the 3 of us (any additional advice here would be appreciated also!)
And a heads up on local school information for our daughter, who, we hope, will become more motivated to learn Spanish when the language is all around us. She speaks English and Swedish.
We have so many questions but let's start there, I think.
Thank you in advance for any practical or encouraging info you may have for us. We are excited but also a little apprehensive of taking this big step.
Best wishes
Liesl, Elena and Scott
Hi there,
I recently moved to the region of Vejer de la Frontera with my family of 4. Our house is on the outskirts of Vejer near San Ambrosio. My oldest son goes to school in Zahora and we found a daycare in the neighbourhood as well. However, we are still finding our way and in need of some advice or likeminded people around.
My smallest boy is just over a year old and he should get some vaccines done that are obligatory. However I really don't know where to go knocking to get these done. The medical center in Vejer is closed? and we have been to Barbate to get some medical assistance and I was a bit shocked by the unwillingness to help, or their standoffish manner of reacting. As we do not speak fluently we are perceived as the stupid foreign people. However I understand everything very well.
Is there any advice for foreign people where it is best to get medical advice and assistance? Or just someone who could assist us.
A trustworthy medic?

I'm looking to buy good quality cotton sheets and duvet covers for a king-size bed and two singles at the best prices! Any advice welcome.
Hi. I would be interested to know of any activity groups in the Vejer area where I could meet some English speaking people. I live in the campo alone and feel quite isolated . Thanks
We are a couple looking for a winter let from late October to late April in Vejer de la Frontera. Preferably a house but would also consider the right apartment. Max 600€ all in.
Best regards Andy & Viil

Does anyone know if you can register with a supermarket in Spain, such as Carrefour, while in the UK for a delivery in Spain for when you arrive? Or click and collect. Thanks
Has anyone got experience of trying to get their property inscribed in their names in the Registro de Propiedad. In our case a name was recorded 70 years ago, this was the last time a name was registered. Since then the property has changed hands many times by private contract. We are now unable to register the property in our name until we get a notarised signature from the descendants of the former registered owner. This is proving impossible! Any advice would be really appreciated.
