Hi from my husband, Henry, and I!  We lived in Thailand for twenty years, but last year (2018) decided to return to the UK, but just couldn't settle there, and so it was that after a bit of research we arrived here in Arcos where we are gloriously happy.  We have rented a cozy little flat quite near the Parque El Paseo and would be more than happy to hear from any other like-minded souls hereabouts.  Henry is now retired but you might not know it, and I am 58 but feel thirty years younger.  I don't think that we've quite grown up yet.

If there is any particularly good meeting point/tapas bar etc., where fun could be had, do please let us know.  Otherwise, it would be great to hear from anyone in the area who feels like meeting us.  We are both trying to learn Spanish (Henry did a Spanish O level at school about 400 years ago, so he's ahead of me).  We're both motor sports fans, but hopefully not motor sports bores...

Please get in touch if you feel like it - it would be good to hear from you!

Linda (and Henry)

Hi - this isn't actually Linda here, it's her husband, Henry.  I just wanted to point out that the photo that you see beside Linda's posts is not a photo of Linda.  It's actually a photo of a beautiful Golden Retreiver.  I just thought that I should point this out in case anybody thought that I'd married a dog...

Have fun, and hope to hear from you soon -

Henry and Linda (and maybe the dog too).

Hi Henry and Linda.  We are Americans living in Spain, Kippy and Steve.  How are you settling in to Arcos?  Perhaps we can meet for a offer or caƱa sometime soon. My phone is 685237094. Un saludo, kippy

Hi Linda & Henry.

My name is Clive, I moved to Arcos about a month ago. A Brit, originally from Essex

I have recently moved from Zafra, Badajoz to Arcos. It is a great town. Looking forward to seeing it change through the different seasons. Parking can sometimes be a pain, but that aside, I love it here .

Very hilly, good for the legs and heart, lol

I like to socialize, only Brits I have met so far are tourists. I speak some Spanish, and happy to pass on what I know about Arcos, speaking spanish, and Spain in general.

I have got chatting to some restaurant/bar owners and their staff.

Learning more by the day. But it's still nice to practice a bit of English when I can.

I am quite happy to meet for a drink, and exchange knowledge and experiences.

My knowledge of Spain, the laws here, how to apply for things here, and what the basic Spanish registration requirements are. And how to get them.

Some ex pats live under the radar, but becoming less advisable with BREXIT beckoning!

I am skilled in computers, networks, mobile fines, and technology in general.

I have installed numerous giant satellite dishes/receivers in the past  few years. In order to receive sky/English satellite TV.

However with new fleets of satellites deployed in the recent years the signals are becoming more difficult to receive.

I now advise in UK TV via internet as an alternative.

Lots more I could tell you, but better over a coffee or beer.

I would love to hear from you.

Clive xx

Good evening Clive!

This is Henry of 'Linda and Henry' and I have literally just seen you post this minute.  Please accept our apologies for appearing so rude as to ignore it in the first place.  Not sure why it happened, but it did, and, like most things in life, it was probably my fault.

If we are forgiven, it would be great to meet up and have a natter some time.  Annoyingly, we are away this weekend and for a couple of weeks after that, but should be back in town after the first week in March.  How does that sound to you?  It would be good to meet for a coffee or beer pretty much anywhere you like.  We live a little downhill from the Paseo but have wheels, so can move about relatively easily.

Do let us know if this appeals and we can go from there.

Best regards and regrets for being so foolish!

Henry and (somewhere) Linda.
