Do you know if a US citizen can get into Spain just with PCR (not vaccinated for medical reasons)

My friend has a notarized certificate saying that due to an allergic condition and the risk of an anaphylactic shock, he can’t be vaccinated

Do you know if someone could get into Spain with just the PCR?

Thank you, Marga

To be absolutely sure he probably needs to contact the Spanish Embassy or Government website also the airlines but that is probably ly a nightmare.

I doubt that it is any help but I travel with paper certificates and on one there is a QR code.

The embassy sent us to the Ministry of Health. By phone they said it’s possible but the web page doesn’t

So, it is a real nightmare

You obtained the QR because you were vaccinated or had a recovery certificate? Or another type of certificate? This answer can help us a lot.

Thanks again, all the best

I have the certificate because I am vaccinated. However, my daughter who is now Spanish has not been vaccinated and travelled by train from Belgium to Spain with no issues.

However I guess that is not a possibility for your friend to fly to one country and travel into Spain by train.

I believe if your friend has a PCR test within 48 hours before he flies then I think he will be fine to fly. The PCR test is really important for the non vaccinated. Almost more important than a certificate.  I had to have a PCR test in London last November when I flew back from Spain even though I was vaccinated! I had to book the test before I flew in and it had to be within the first two days of my return.

Perhaps that is the answer for your friend.

Thank you very much, he will get the PCR test. And we know it’s even more important than the rest.

As you know Spain is pretty open right now, even more during easter, but the official spanish web page doesn’t say that

Best, Marga
