Hi I'm planning to move to Vejer in mid October 2020. Any thoughts on if this will give me enough to set up residency before the 31st December? Also any tips on going about it be gratefully received.

Ultimately I want to live in Vejer, but if it was easier to get residency elsewhere, then I guess it doesn't matter too much where I start out.

Thanks very much for your advice.

Its important to get you NIE first. Everyone needs this as a form of ID for purchases, etc. Its really easy When you get here, all you will need is your passport, you will be given a form to fill out, take it to a bank and pay the fee ?€11.00 then back to the City Hall  and they will issue you with a NIE number.

I live in Jerez de la Frontera and here everything is in walking distance and easy access to the airport, trains and buses. Half hour to the coast.

Lesley.

Ok cheers Lesley that's really useful, guess there are lots of people out there trying to make it all sound complicated. Added to that you never know what's happening at the moment with covid and Brexit deadlines.

Remember a day in Jerez as being one of the hottest experienced in my life!

Hi. Do you get your NIE number from City Hall or the police?

The local police. Google how to get a Spanish NIE. Things may have change since I got mine some years ago.

Good Luck.
