Hi all and a happy Easter!

I moved to Chipiona last September and am about to buy a house here and despite the restrictions I need to consider how to survive long term. I’m a percussionist firstly but a capable pianist on the jazz/salsa/musicals side of things, a graduate of the Royal Northern College of  Music. For over thirty years I’ve done the rounds of orchestras (Halle, BBC Philharmonic, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra amongst others), shows (Les Miserables, Cats, Phantom of the Opera, Evita, Joseph, Fame, Oliver...all on tour; The Lion King in the west end as percussionist, conductor and rehearsal pianist), numerous jazz, salsa and Latin jazz gigs as pianist, arranger and musical director, classical contemporary music festivals as a marimba soloist/duettist, am very involved in the running of th3 National Concert Band Festival in th3 U.K. and for eight years was the Director of Percussion Studies and Big Band at Canterbury Christ Church University.

So what now. Obviously there is next to nothing going on at the moment but as a newbie, what sort of live music, whether in venues, concert halls or within the community, goes on around here. I’m not looking for offers of gigs or teaching (although feel free to make them), I am looking to see what has gone before in order to work out what might come next. I have basic conversational Spanish which is improving and I love the deep end.

All suggestions are welcomed,

Kind regards,

Mike
