Is it OK to buy in Puerto Serrano?

Hi, we are coming out soon to look at properties in the villamartin/Puerto Serrano area. I got an email from an agent to say that due to the crime and drug rates in Puerto Serrano due to a street in the town (I guess they were talking about Calle Guadalete) that it's not a suitable place to buy in. Is this correct it looked a nice town from Google maps. I Thanks Tony
