Hello, I am English, retired and live in a small town in the Sierra de Cadiz and I am the only English person here and although my Spanish is not good, I get by. This is the first time that I have ever joined a forum and I was wondering if there are expats who get together for small social gatherings. It would be so nice to be able to have a conversation in English, meet some new people and maybe share other experiences of living in this part of Spain.

Would love to hear from  you.

Good Morning,I’m  a novice on forums too :) welcome .

My husband , I and our dog have just retired to Spain. We’ve been locked down in Seville since the provinces closed in November. However we completed on our forever home in Jerez last week.!!! So hopefully it won’t be too long before we are settling in.

Our Spanish is not good at all but this forum is so friendly and helpful, and I believe we will be able to have Spanish lessons in Jerez , thanks to a contact of a lovely lady on here.

I’m sure someone on here will be able to give you news of any get togethers and  hopefully before long we will be meeting up.  I’m looking forward to putting down roots and settling . Becoming part of a community. This forum has certainly made me feel as if that’s already started.:)

I will ( and others on here ) update you on any gatherings that are arranged . Look forward to meeting you in the not too distant future. All the best Brenda

Good morning and thank you for replying to my message. I do hope that you enjoy your new home in Jerez, such a beautiful city.

I also wish you every success with your Spanish learning, certainly not easy in this part of Spain, in fact, many linguists agree that if you want to learn Spanish, don’t try to learn it in Andalucia! Still, part of the challenge I think.

I certainly look forward to any organised social events whenever they may be.

Thank you and kindest regards

Hi don't know if you're near Arcos de la Frontera as they have a very active Facebook group.

Hi Laura F, I actually live in Villamartin, so not too far away. I would be interested to have the details if you wouldn’t mind passing them on.

Thank you.

Hi Ralphie, Laura & Brenda,

My wife, Debs, and I live with our two dogs (and a cat) in the small town of Paterna de Rivera between Medina & Arcos.  We're always up for meeting others in the area - especially if dog-walking and eating are involved! - so do get in touch any time if you fancy organising something or if you fancy meeting up.

The WhatsApp group stemming from the Facebook page for Expats in Jerez, Cadiz & El Puerto is pretty active and often arranges activities such as walks or just gatherings.  A few of us met up last month for a lovely walk around the lake at Bornos followed by lunch.  Things tend to be quieter during the peak summer months.

Cheers,  Matt

Hi Matt, thanks for getting in touch. Unfortunately, I don't have a dog however, always happy to meet up for a chat over a coffee or beer etc and more than happy to drive over to you.

Maybe wait till its a little cooler but will definitely get in touch again and arrange something.

Kind regards

Ralphie.

Hi Matt,

Thank you so much , I know once we have moved in , this is something we’d  love to enjoy. The weather here in Seville is a tad warm at 44 degrees today ;) so it will be wonderful to be closer to the coast and have fresher air. It certainly beats the grey UK. So we have no complaints, we just move slower !!! :)

Looking forward to meeting you all

Best wishes Bren

Hi yes it's actually a what's app group so if you send me your number (you can private message me)and I'll forward your details for the group, they seem to be fine about you joining.
