Hi folks,
Welcome to Spain!
To answer your question, You will have to go to your local Health Center in your area and get an appointment to see a doctor, explain you are new to the area. But now due to COVID, I don’t think you can see one face to face, most appointments are done over the phone, the doctor calls you or if you need an X-ray etc, a letter is sent to your address.
There is a good video on YouTube “Spain Speaks” all the recent news and updates in English, there are tons of his video’s starting from the first day of lockdown, this might be of some use to you.
Yes anyone living in Spain, regardless of status, is allowed to get the vaccine but Spain is behind and only 8% have received the vaccine so far. The 80year olds have just got their jab, the under 55yr old getting the AstraZeneca, then the 70’s . The health center will call with an appointment and location. It is a wait ans see. It is what it is. One benefit of being in the UK, you would have had your jab by now.
I am a health care worker and go to the UK to work as a live in 4 weeks on and 4 weeks off. I will be given the vaccine before I start work in the UK, I of course have to register with a doctors surgery first and get my NI number which I have but don’t remember it as I have in all these years not living in the UK have forgotten my number!
So as you see, it is very important to have your health card here in Spain, now that you are a temp. Resident.
Best of luck and hope you get settled and enjoy the Spanish culture!
