Male 63, single, thinking of relocation

Hi
I'm currently living in London and seriously considering the big move. I'm not sure Costa del sol is for me so looking at the general Cadiz area. I'm 63 and single, finding the thought very daunting. I speak minimal Spanish but very willing to learn. I'd be most grateful to hear about experiences of those that took the leap and what the big pitfalls are. I hold an Irish (European) passport. I would ideally rent somewhere for 6 months before looking to buy. Happy to hear the success stories or those for whom it didn't quite work out.
