Hi my name's Daisy me and my husband have lived in gran Canaria for 30 years but last year lost our buisness through coronavirus. We now need a new start so thinking of moving over to chiclana we have been there many times and really like the area.we would like to rent first before we buy or if there is a house and pet sitting service there we both love animals and my husband does maintenance work. Look forward to  hearing

Afternoon Daisey,

Firstly sorry to hear the news, presently its not easy for many businesses especially if it is 'autonomous'. My wife and I are both Architects and have our Architectural practice in Chcilana and the last years has being a journey to say the least.

I think you will like it here, if you are looking for a quieter calmer area contrasting Grand Canaria.

You are doing the right thing in renting before buying as my wife and I did the exact same until be bought a site and built new, only 2 year ago. In terms of dog sitting services, there are plenty of services available, but to find the best recommendation by the English community here, I suggest you join facebook group listed below. There are many pet loving people on this forum that have a wealth of knowledge where it comes to pet care in and around Chiclana.  It will also be helpful for your husband to offer his maintenance services.

Hi Daisy,

How courageous of you both to start anew in our area. I just want to say I think you are right to come here after August as this area is full of Spaniards during the summer and there is very little available during the summer. This year will be particularly full, more than likely, as Spaniards will be staying at home in Spain and not going abroad. You will have much more choice and things will be less expensive after the summer. Good luck.
