Thinking of buying in Arcos de la Frontera

Greetings
I have been on the mailing list of ThinkSPAIN and noticed a few properties that have come up for sale in Arcos de la Frontera.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me why properties appear to be really good value (cheap) I appreciate that the ones I have seen look tired and need some TLC but they seem too good to be true. This would be a holiday home so is there any downside of leaving a property for weeks empty in this part of the world?

I will get a flight over to look in the flesh but I noticed the flights appear to be limited (Jerez) this time of year. Is it just Ryan Air and Easy jet (Seville) that fly to this part of the world.

Lastly, is it easy to get a decorator / kitchen suppliers / builder to do works? (I would need all three for the apartment I like)

Hi Dean,

How did you get on? Did you manage to fly over and look at properties in Arcos before the lockdown? We can’t wait to get there ourselves as it does look terrific value for money and we intend to buy this year.

No I didnt and the property I set my heart on was sold.

However, what with whats going on in the world right now, it might be a blessing.

Watch this space but I agree with you, it looks excellent value for money there.

I had been looking for a place to live in southern Spain, Jerez, Puerto de Santa Maria, etc and as my Spanish ex wife pointed out that many house that have a great price are not "Legal" houses. Meaning they are not approved my the ayuntamiento (town Hall) in the plans for the city. Most have wells and not city water. I did find my place to live which happens to be approximately 10 km from Arcos.DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CONSOLIDATED URBAN LAND AND UNCONSOLIDATED URBAN LAND. ... That is to say, the parts of the city that are not built and the areas in which planning foresees the creation of new buildings, opening of new roads, green areas, squares, equipment, facilities, etc.
