Good morning everyone. This is my first ever post, so please be gentle with me (ha ha).  My wife and I live up near Cartagena in Murcia.

We have around twelve family members due to come to visit in the autumn. Does anyone know of any Sherry Vineyards that do tours to see the grapes etc, and caters for larger groups.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Thank you in advance. Peter

Hi Peter,

Not sure about actually touring the vineyards, but there are some wonderful Bodegas to visit in Jerez.  Our favourite has to be the small but wonderful Bodegas Tradición which produces limited quantities of fabulous sherry.  The bodega tour is very good, the tasting (complete with plenty of nibbles) is fab and to top it all you get access to their amazing art gallery featuring original works by all the great Spanish artists.

A larger scale, but excellent, tour featuring both sherry and brandy bodegas is at Fundador.  Again, a good tasting with a few nibbles but there is an option to have a sherry or brandy + cheese or chocolate pairing session afterwards for a small additional cost.  Well worthwhile.

Finally, Bodegas Lustau also offer an excellent tour culminating in a generous tasting session including some of their vermouths.

There are many others, of course.  Try the Jerez tourist information site for more details...

Cheers,  Matt
