Just a note to recommend a couple of people. We have been looking for property for a few years and decided on Jerez a year ago. I had read some awful horror stories about buying in spain so did a lot of digging on line and tried to plan in advance as much as possible which was one of the reasons for joining this forum.

We exchanged on a property on monday this week  using the spanish lawyer as power of attorney and we complete on Nov 8th. We viewed a property we offered on and within three days the lawyer and agent between them had answered all of our  questions and concerns. We used a spanish firm of lawyers in jerez, all of whom speak excellent english and handle evertything from taxation, private litigation to property sales/purchases. The process has been simple and very straight forward and they have been a pleasure to deal with, efficient and very  helpful. Just in case anyone needs any services they are Konsell Abogados y Asesores, SL in Jerez. The property purchase was done by Antonio Lara. They are also providing our wills immediately after the completion. The other person worth a mention was an estate agent Tony Martinez of Umbra Inmobiliaria in Jerez, I have a contact number if anyone needs it. I am not a fan of estate agents despite being in commercial and domestic property in the UK as my job. But he has been communicative and helpful and quite honestly not what I was expecting. I am staggered so far as to how helpful and efficient they have been making the whole process painless. Thoroughly recommend both of  them. Steve

Congratulations on your purchase and thanks for the information. We are a bit behind you. Hoping to buy within the next year in Vejer. When we are ready, I’ll reach out to your attorneys. Hopefully they handle sales in our area as well.

Good Afternoon everyone , I can echo Steve’s words completely. Following a conversation with Steve , we made an appointment with Konsell Abodegas ……. Initially to prepare our Spanish Tax returns by Manuel , whilst we were there Antonio introduced himself and is helping us with our Padron , José Manuel introduced himself and is sorting our Wills :)  A very friendly professional service . We felt totally at ease, they ensured that we understood all the information we had to take in . I would highly recommend them all. Their English is very good but we’ve promised to be speaking to them in Spanish this time next year , I may need to ask for an extension on that timeline though. We have now been living in Jerez for 4 weeks and have been met with such friendliness, and helpfulness , we feel very welcomed . looking forward to spending many years just enjoying  a beautiful area, weather , people , history and Sherry!!
Have a good day everyone . Bren

Hi,

Thank you for this post.  I am planning on selling my flat in Jerez so have been looking for a good solicitor and agent.  Does Umbra Inmobiliaria speak English? I am a Spanish speaker but looking to keep things simple :-)

Hi Julie,

I can highly recommend Konsell’s as lawyers to act for you , English speaking and very pro active to all you’re needs . I’m afraid Estate Agents that speak English , I have very little knowledge of , however I’m sure if you contact Konsell’s first they may be able to advise . Might be an idea to advertise your flat on this forum ……… we looked here before we moved :) Best of Luck Bren
