Sirs

I own a property in Spain which I visit under Schengen rules - I also own a car.

during my visits to Spain (lasting up to 90 days each visit) can I drive my vehicle on

a) my UK driving licence

Or

b) an international driving licence

Or do I need to apply for a Spanish driving licence

Regards

Ray Fysh

Hi Ray,

I believe you will require your UK driving licence along with an IDL. You are actually driving on your UK licence but the IDL identifies you (photo) and classes of vehicles you can drive in the language of the host country.

Hope this helps,

Regards

Mike

If you are a British citizen residing legally in the UK and not in Spain your driving license is perfectly valid and you do not need an international driving license as long as you entered in Spain (you should get your passport stamped to prove when you entered) less than 6 months ago. This you can see it here (marked in purple):

I hope it helps,
