We are a small rural ecological finca with self-catering holiday rentals near Dehesa Montenmedio 5km from Vejer de la Frontera, looking for a local part-time daily caretaker based within 10 minutes drive  - as you will also need to be nearby to occasionally provide quick resolutions or deal with 'emergencies', such replacing a lost key.  Practical DIY skills, basic gardening eg mowing and watering as well as cleaning pools during Summer are the main tasks - while feeding and keeping an eye on our friendly cats is important too!  The work will be year-round for the right person with additional projects depending on skills, daily during Summer (split between morning and an hour in the evening) - while Winter hours (Nov to Jan) are far more flexible.  Suit semi-retired or perhaps shared.

Hola!

Thank you for your interest in the job - you do sound like it would be a good fit for both us and yourself.  The role is varied and there is always a great deal to do, but for the right person it is ideal especially if they are self-motivated and can just get on with things.

Our first question is your location/home town or village address, as we have found that it is important for a caretaker to be within a short distance of the finca in order to deal with any emergencies or urgent call outs - although these do not happen very often, such as guest loosing their keys or broken tap leaking water etc.

We also split the work between mainly the morning with a short visit in late afternoon in the warmer Summer months, so that can fit around other work commitments too.

Therefore, if you could let me know, that would be appreciated!

I look forward to hearing from you.

un saludo

Tanya

  Hola Gerhraldo

Thank you for coming back to me so quickly and I have noted you will not be down in Chiclana until November,

However, realistically Chiclana is too far away to be based for this role, as we know from many years experience with guests that we need someone who is based within 10 minutes maximum from the finca  - not least as during the warmer months the work is divided up between the morning and late afternoon, so it is also not realistic or cost effective to travel back and forth twice a day.

In the Summer months, the traffic can also slow the journey down and we know from Chiclana it can easily take 30-45 minutes if not longer - so if there was an emergency that needed urgent assistance, (although this is unusual) it would not be possible to reach the finca in quick time.

Therefore, although you sound a good fit, unfortunately for this particular role of caretaker/gardener we definitely needs someone very local, so your location means that it would not be practical every day.  However, we do on occasion carry out bigger Winter projects between November to January, which are for a few days at a time around good weather - so perhaps if this is something that might interest you, please let me know.  My husband's email is [email protected]

saludos

Tanya

Hola Darren

Thank you for your interest in this posting, although I have noted you live in Chiclana.

Realistically Chiclana is too far away to be based for this role, as we know from many years experience with guests that we need someone who is located nearby and within 10 minutes maximum drive from the finca - which is about 5km to the South of Vejer.

During the warmer months of June to September the work is also divided up between the morning and late afternoon (to avoid the hotter hours between 12-6), so it is not realistic or cost effective for someone to travel back and forth twice a day from further away. With traffic in the Summer months, it can take up to 45 minutes from Chiclana - so if guests needed quick assistance eg loss of keys with young children shut out of a house, let alone an an emergency eg flooding or fire, then there would be a considerable delay with travel.

Therefore, although you sound a good fit, unfortunately for this particular role of caretaker/gardener we definitely needs someone very local, so your location means that it would not be practical every day.   Thank you again for enquiring.

un saludo

Tanya
