Hi,

My husband and I are planning on buying a Villa in the Chiclana area early next year. We’ve done the usual internet searches for properties that appeal to us 3 Bes/2 Bath with pool and noticed that there seem to be many different areas within Chiclana.

We will be flying out for a proper recky once the quarantine restrictions have been lifted but in the meantime wondered if anyone had some suggestions for the nicest areas please. We would like to be near to shops, restaurants and community but at the same time we like the countryside...not asking too much are we? 😉

Any recommendations and advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks all

Paul

Hi there,

We bought out there two years ago with a view to moving out permanently in 3 years time!! We looked around several properties and areas, but we settled on Pago Del Humo. We have close family who’ve spent a happy 14 years there already and we find the area to be very good.

There’s a great community feel, it’s rural but you have neighbours all around you. There’s a village shop, a chemist, a d.i.y and home repair store as well as several Ventas. It’s 10 minutes  from Chiclana Town and just 20 minutes from the beach. Houses are affordable with a variety of modern and traditional Spanish on the     market here. We searched through Idealista, Kyero, Sunshine Group, eventually buying through Cadiz Casa.

Let us know how it goes...we’re out there hopefully for a few weeks in September

Evening Emmy,

My wife and I were in a similar position 2 years ago when we first arrived. We now have an Architecture practice and will be more than happy to advice you on areas within and around Chiclana and more importantly areas or villas that are built legally on urbanised land, which is a big problem here along Costa De luz as you might have already heard.

Happy to help,

Hi Emmy,

I would recommend during your visit that you take a day or two to just drive around and look at the different areas to find out which ones suit you better in terms of location, amenities etc.

Different areas will suit different people, and most do offer the criteria that you are looking for, i.e. having shops/restaurants close by, and a community feel. A lot will also depend on your budget, as the closer to the beach you search, the higher the prices tend to be.

It sounds like the areas of Pago del Humo and El Marquesado may suit you due to the proximity to the town, local restaurants, and also having a rural aspect to it. Having said that areas such as La Barrosa, Los Gallos, Las Rapaces, Mogarizas, Rana Verde, El Florin, which are closer to the beach, offer similar amenities.

Hope this has helped.

Kind regards, Jamal
